Its been a while since I had glass of milkshake. Part of it was because I am on a diet, another part is because I usually get stomach reactions every time I drink and the last part is because I got tired of the usual flavors like chocolate, strawberry and vanilla.
Believe it or not, teas and milk teas overpowered milkshakes and the market of the latter has decreased compared to when I was younger.
A huge thanks to Cheryl who invited me to go with her to Happy Barn one Sunday. I really had no idea what Happy Barn is but I had to say YES when she said they make milkshakes!
Milkshakes by The Happy Barn
We arrived almost lunch at Powerplant Mall, Rockwell and because we were running late, we immediately headed straight to Happy Barn which is located inside Rustan’s Fresh Supermarket. The music playing in their stall was all barn music which made the child in me happy. The interior of the stall like their backdrop drawings, milk bottles, wood barrels and crate decors gave a feel of a true barn experience.
We met Abby, one of the owners and she briefly described why the concept of Happy Barn. She also gave some recommended product because we were overwhelmed with the flavors that we had a hard time choosing which one to order.
Just so you know, The Happy Barn Milkshake Factory is owned by Happy Minds Food Creations. Less than 2 months after the successful opening of their Evia Branch, they have decided to open a store nearer to the citizens of the North.
Happy Barn Milkshakes are fortified with pre-biotics that is good for our stomach’s digestion and absorption.
As for their ice cream, they make their own version of vanilla ice cream that they mix with all their milkshakes! They made sure that they are sugar free and 98% fat free. So for health buffs out there, their milkshakes should be healthy for you too!
Milkshakes by The Happy Barn Best Sellers
Usual flavored milkshakes like vanilla, strawberry and chocolate are sold at The Happy Barn, but because unique tasting flavors can likely spread more happy thoughts, The Happy Barn decided to give the regular milkshakes a twist!
Imagine Nutella, or Chocnut or the famous Speculoos turned into milkshakes… How does that feel? Happy right? That’s the same feeling I felt when I saw Nutty Monkey Delight on their menu board.
Out of all the milkshakes we’ve tasted, I’ve been stuck with Nutty Monkey which is made of vanilla ice cream, bananas and nutella! I really love the combination and I guess, I have found my favorite again! Second on my list would be the Salted Caramel Pretzel Surprise. To my surprise, the pretzel mixed so well with the salted caramel flavor which is the reason I enjoyed drinking it. Maybe it is also the reason why it is included in their best sellers!
We also tried their “Pinoy” flavors–Uber Yummy Yam which is the Ube flavor and the Honey Sweet Corn Treat, which tasted like crushed “mais con yelo“. Lychee Glee, on the other hand, was the last on my list. I personally didn’t like it because I didn’t find the ice cream match well with the lychee flavor.
For cake lovers, The Happy Barn also offers Black Forest Bliss, which I suppose is their “cake on a shake”.
The Happy Barn Milkshake Factory also serve eggettes! I first saw eggettes sold at the streets of Hong Kong. I’ve been wondering since then how it taste like but haven’t had the chance to taste one. Thanks to Happy Barn for answering my curiosity! Now I know that eggettes are just like waffles except they look like eggs on a tray! Soft and chewy on the inside, the eggettes pair perfectly with milkshakes! Best eaten while its crispy and hot! You can order it plain, with corn and hotdogs or with shredded pork! All of ehich tasted really good!
Overall, I am so satisfied with my comeback to milkshakes! I am still on a diet but a little touch of The Happy Barn Milkshakes will definitely keep me Happy, all the time!
